Additional Achievements and Accomplishments
I wanted to include copies of various personal and professional achievements that I have obtained over the past three years. I feel including these in my portfolio is important to providing a full picture of myself as an emerging educator, as many if not all of them contribute to my teaching style and identity. They symbolically represent my hard work and dedication to my career path, and visually mark the the many steps and milestones I have taken to get where I am today!
Degrees, Letters and Certificates
This is my first University Degree, obtained from the University of Victoria in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Bachelor of Arts Degree (MA Psychology, MI Ethics). Conferred November, 2012.
This is the official letter that I received from the faculty of Education at the University of Calgary which formally acknowledged my acceptance into the Early Childhood Education specialization.
This is a certificate I received after attending and participating in my first ever professional development seminar as an out of school care leader and childcare coordinator. This seminar workshop focused on different classroom management strategies and ways to develop engagement, communication and respect within and between groups of students (ages of 4 and 10).
This is another certificate which I received after attending and participating in a professional development course for the purposes of being a summer camp team leader and coordinator. This seminar workshop was invaluable in terms of teaching methods and strategies to foster inclusion and differentiate activities (such as crafts, games and field trips) to meet the diverse needs of children coming to full day summer camps.
When I started my Education Degree in September of 2013, there was an orientation and welcome week on campus. I was fortunate enough to learn about and get a membership for the Early Childhood Education Council on campus. Being an ECE specialist, I saw the value of being a part of a team of preservice teachers and educators who were equally as passionate about teaching the littles ones. I received this certificate after attending and participating in a seminar which had first year teachers talk about their experiences and advice after a year of being in the classroom as professional teachers.
